- I am a Junior English teacher at Newark Collegiate Academy. I love teaching my students to love reading and writing and to discover their potential as individuals who can change the world around them through literature. This trip was a dream come true for me because I truly believe in the power of hands-on educational experiences outside the classroom and I am so glad that I was able to complete this project with my students. My dream is to one day be able to raise the funds to take students from my urban high school on a service learning trip to the developing world, where they might be exposed to the realities of life in countries outside of the US and feel a sense of accomplishment and connection with the people they meet and help in other countries.
